Our Story

Where Culture Gets Personal

At Symbols and Sayings, we believe history isn’t just something in books — it’s in the phrases we repeat, the art we carry forward, and the quiet wisdom that outlasts trends. We bring humor, heritage, and meaning together in everyday products that spark connection, conversation, and maybe a little grin.

Because good stories deserve to live on.

About Karen

As a lifelong seeker fascinated by the ways personal narrative shapes the lives we live, Karen has always had a keen interest in the creative use of language and iconography to express personal and cultural values. Symbols and Sayings is an exploration of the use of time-tested symbols and truths to build happiness, connection, and resilience. Karen uses 25+ years of writing experience in the wellness, psychology, nature, and history genres to curate wearable, displayable, and giftable designs that use classic wisdom and imagery to promote well-being, laughter, and a sense of belonging.

Karen’s articles and photographs have appeared in regional and national magazines such as Spirituality and Health and The Herb Quarterly. Her memoir, What My Heart Saw: Untangling Memory and How the Brain Heals merges her personal story of recovery from developmental trauma with current trends in neuroscience and self-help techniques.
